 "Double Bind" by Suzie 2010

This freestanding "book" was built with scrap wood, glued with carpenter's glue. Each "side" has a little story, hand-stamped inside on cream linen paper, bound/sewn with wool thread.

"Judy & Roscoe" by suzie copyright 2009

That day Judy & Roscoe adopted each other is the story here. I made this as a piece for the silent auction part of the 2009 Doggie Drag. I'm lucky because a friend of mine bought it so I can visit it if I want to. It clearly has a good home.

About Junque Art & Altered Books
Junque art is pretty much art made with leftover stuff from junk mail, found objects, unloved books and damaged stuff. If you put it all together, it is actually quite cool. You can make everyday items and decor without spending much money. My costs are usually for paint, adhesive and cheap paintbrushes.

"objects in motion" 2009 by suzie

Everything is found around the household, garage, outbuildings, trash, garage sales, donations, etc. I enjoy teaching others to utilize old greeting cards, journals, wrapping paper and such to recycle old into new. Most people enjoy looking at what I create. Some have even bought my stuff!

Welcome to my altered art pages!
Welcome friends! I will be posting photos of my art pieces. Altered books and altered photos are my specialty. I also use old paint and found objects to create small mixed media pieces.

Pet Portrayals by Suzie

Consider a funky art photo of your pet to hang in your house or place on your desk at work. For only $50 (includes mat and frame) you can have a fun portrait designed of a pet that has passed on or maybe a gift of your friend's favorite pet. You get to choose from a final set of 4 images.

Contact me via e-mail if you are interested: slroyce1@hotmail.com

In the meantime, you should visit www.gcpetpals.org to see what pets are available for adoption, donate to the wishlist or just find out what events and activities are featured this month!

Mosaic Work Using Recycled Tiles

This mosaic bathroom floor was put in over a plywood subfloor. It turned out great! It is holding up well after a couple of years of use. No cracking or chipping at all.

"beercanbook" by Suzie copyright 2007

This little gem was made by cutting up old beer cans (found on the side of the road). All you have to do is cut the top and bottoms off  - very carefully. Bend the insides backwards, tape sides down with duct tape and color with alcohol ink (Sharpie's work good). Decorate, then bind with clips or whatever. I have inserted a type of parchment paper in between the pages.

This book is only 3"x3". Please note, when picking up beer cans on the side of the road, do it when there are no cars containing children and adults that you personally know, driving by. They will wonder what you are doing with all the beer cans! - Don't ask me how I know this...
